With more than 20 years of experience across South Africa and the UAE, Elize Lessing is a strategic, people-centred Employee Relations and Labour Law specialist who believes that every challenge deserves to be approached with both integrity and compassion.

Her professional journey began in the South African Department of Justice, where she served as a Prosecutor and later as a Magistrate. These formative years instilled a deep respect for justice, dignity and the complexities of human behaviour—principles that continue to shape her approach to employee relations, workplace investigations and organisational culture today. Elize holds an LLB degree and is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Throughout her corporate career, Elize has held senior leadership positions within multinational organisations, including Kerzner International at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai and One&Only Resorts in South Africa. She also served as a General HR Manager within highly specialised technical and engineering environments in the UAE, where she gained extensive experience leading complex people strategies across culturally diverse organisations.

Her expertise spans Labour Law, Employee Relations, organisational culture, disciplinary and grievance processes, ethics and fraud investigations, restructuring and retrenchments, leadership advisory, and employment law compliance. She is recognised as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, valued for her ability to navigate complex workplace matters with fairness, clarity and professionalism while never losing sight of the people involved.

Driven by a passion for helping organisations build healthier workplaces, Elize founded Beyond the Box to provide strategic Labour Law, Industrial Relations and HR consulting that balances legal compliance with genuine human understanding. Her approach goes beyond policies and procedures, focusing on practical solutions that strengthen relationships, build trust and create sustainable organisational success.

Over time, Elize recognised that many workplace challenges extend beyond the office. Career transitions, conflict, stress and significant life changes often impact both professional performance and personal wellbeing. This inspired her to expand her work into personal counselling and coaching, enabling her to support individuals through life’s most important transitions with the same depth of care and practical guidance that has defined her corporate career.

As a Certified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner, Elize helps clients develop greater self-awareness, confidence and resilience while equipping them with practical tools to navigate change with purpose.
